  I have used a lot of car hire companies in many countries over many years. Some were ok, some were awful. Avis however, have been uniformly excellent. Booking, reserving, paying, pickup and drop off systems are simple, unfussy and efficient. They hire the the nicest of desk staff. These are people who know how to interact and know that you don't want to take out a second mortgage before you get behind the wheel. They know that you just want to get in the car and go and they make that happen every time. Avis have a stock of my favorite car, the pared down, nippy Seat Leon 1.6 diesel. The one time that they didn't have this they put me in a very posh upgrade motor, so no complaints there. Their daily insurance plan is very reasonable and covers everything from a kerbed alloy to a total write off. That lets me do my driving without having a nervous breakdown every time I encounter a pothole. So, a car hire company that is simple, efficient, excellent value for money with friendly welcoming staff? Why would I go anywhere else?

  Competitive price, given the advantage of a well established organisation. Easy booking on line. Helpful staff. The only downside was a very long queue to pick up on Saturday afternoon at Cork airport. But to be fair, when we dropped off at a similar time and day, there was no queue.

  I would like to thank the guy on the Avis desk who looked after us on arrival in Cork airport. I had my six year old and toddler in a baby buggy with me, so was not able to carry two car seats plus two suitcases, so he went to the trouble of walking me and my two children to the car and helping put the suitcase in the boot. Very helpful and went the extra mile and flatly refused to accept a £10 cash tip! I didn’t get his name but many thanks.
