Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in room 4, very noisy as it's close to the road (will be a problem If you're a light sleeper). Walls are thin which means you can hear your neighbours even when they're speaking at a normal level- not great especially when they're still talking at 2am. Good area to stay in. Only 25 mins to Dublin by car.

This was not a value for money experience. The rooms were characterless and the house without comfort or welcome. The owners do not live on site and were never present during my stay. The breakfast was badly cooked using poor quality ingredients and had to be paid for on top of price of room- in a B&B! The breakfast was a basic Full Irish and nothing else- no cereals, fruit juice, marmalade or second cup of coffee. When I switched on one of the bedside lights it blue the circuit and all the lamps and TV went out. There were no smoke detectors in my room. At breakfast on Saturday the dining room curtains remained drawn. My duvet cover was stained. There was a filthy bath mat in the en suite and the stair carpet was dirty and stained. There were two bottles of cheap shampoo and a small tablet of soap in the room but no shower gel. They do advertise that toiletries are provided. I don't know where they get their four star rating from and it is very misleading. It was expensive but felt like I was staying in a hostel. I would not recommend Avocado Lodge to anyone. I only gave the one star because I couldn't post a review without a star.
