  Our worst customer experience ever and still not resolved. We chose carpets for 7 rooms in a house we recently bought. There were 2 weeks between buying the house and our move-in date, giving Carpetright ample time to fit the carpets in empty rooms. All carpets were scheduled to be fitted the week before we moved in. However, we were told that the carpets for 3 rooms would not arrive then, but they would arrive the morning of our move-in date. We thought this was cutting it fine, but we decided to proceed. The fitter was not able to fit the carpets for the other 4 rooms on the day we had booked. He turned up the next day and only the carpets for 2 rooms were available to him, despite the shop saying that the carpets for the 4 rooms had arrived. The fitter left the fluff for the 2 carpets he fitted all over the rooms and the off-cuts in another part of the house. He was supposed to take away the 2 old carpets, but instead just put them in the shed. On the morning of our move-in day, the shop phoned to say that the carpets for the remaining 5 rooms had arrived and the fitter was cutting them. We then paid the balance. An hour later, they phoned again and we were horrified to learn that the carpets for 3 rooms were flawed and could not be fitted. Having lost complete confidence in Carpetright, we went to the shop to cancel the order and to seek a full refund. We were told that only the manager, Marek, could authorise this and that today was his rest day. We contacted Carpetright head office to complain. The next day, Marek phoned to advise that his Regional Manager directed him to offer a refund of the 3 flawed carpets only and that we were expected to allow them to fit the carpets for the other 2 rooms. We confirmed that this was unacceptable and we expected them to come back with a much more reasonable proposal. Some 3 days later, we are still waiting for this. Carpetright's inability to fulfil this order, despite taking payment for all 7 carpets, considerably added to the stresses of moving house and has resulted in only a partial completion of the makeover of the house that we had so carefully planned. Carpetright will never be able to fully make up for their incompetence, but we will be expecting them to provide the correct level of financial compensation on Monday, so that we can move on and make alternative arrangements with a carpet shop who has a better grasp of customer service and ethical behaviour.
