  Avoid this company at all cost. Do not use them. Take the time to go somewhere else, you’ll be happy you did. There are two reasons for this but both boil down to one rationale; they are very unprofessional! To start with, I needed spare keys cut for a new front door lock I had purchased. I was informed Crothers was the place to go, so I did. They didn’t have the key blanks there but I was told they would order them in after the weekend and would phone me; they never did. After contacting them four times over a week and a half, eventually, after being put on hold numerous times, I was informed that they didn’t have the key blanks I needed and were not going to get them in. However, I was also told that they might get some in after the New Year and to give them a call then. I believe that this is very poor customer service on many, many levels. Secondly, I needed key blanks cut for my motorbike. I was in a hurry to get it done before the shops closed for Christmas. Therefore, I brought them to Crothers as they were the nearest place to me at the time. In fairness, the locksmith cut the first key fine, it worked. However, he messed up the second key and it didn’t work at all. They then tried to make the excuse that the bike manufacturer must’ve given me a wrong blank. When it transpired that the locksmith was indeed the individual responsible for breaking a key, which cost me €45, I was told that they had informed me, verbally, that they could not take responsibility for breaking my keys. This part is true, they did tell me that. However, they also told me that it never happens but its just something they are told to say. Well it did happen to me and now I’m down €45 and a bike key. When the individual in charge of the shop got involved, I was told in no uncertain terms that I had been warned and that Crothers would not take responsibility. Now I ask you, what kind of professional tradesman doesn’t take responsibility for their work? The answer is, an unprofessional tradesman. Crothers were unhelpful, unprofessional and uncaring right from the start. I should’ve taken head with incident number one but I thought I’d give them another chance. I’m now out of pocket and down a key but at least I’ve learned my lesson. Stay away from these unprofessional individuals and go somewhere else to do business with a company who take responsibility for their work and value their customers.
