  An amazing tour and interesting insite into the history of one of Ireland's most enduring brands. The buildings and stills are perfectly preserved. The small training didstilliary is also amazing to see.

  The Jameson Distillery Tour and Tasting is a must for any whiskey aficionado. It is a great experience to walk though the old distillery and learn the whiskey making process. You can get a far-away glance and the new and functioning distillery that is now producing the whiskey. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour a great learning experience. Possibly the best part of the whole tour is walking through the aging room that has barrels of whiskey aging. The smell of the room can not be explained in a matter of words. You could smell the oak, caramel, and vanilla notes of the whiskey throughout the room. If they made a candle in that scent I would never be without one! If you are one of the lucky 8 chosen at the end(which I was!), you get to compare the differences between Scottish, American, and Irish whiskey. You will also be donned with the title of "Official Whiskey Taster". After drinking Jameson for the majority of my stay in Ireland, it is hard to drink anything else! We also purchased the Premium Tasting after the tour in which you get to taste more aged whiskys and their profiles. Overall it was one of the best experiences we had in Ireland. Even though we are over 4,000 miles away, we can be brought back to this wonderful experience when we buy a bottle of Jameson at our local liquor store and know it only gets made at this distillery.

  There is nothing better than taste testing whiskey. Here too, they give you the three options of Jameson, Johnny Walker Black and Jack Daniel. All of which seems like a fair fight, until you actually get to the tastings. Most, including ourselves never finish the competition. I believe no one does, actually. Irish Whiskey is tripled distilled. The other major positive for us, was our introduction to Barman extraordinaire John. Wow, what a class act and wonderful guide to all things whiskey. As we were waiting for our tour to begin, we struck up a conversation on the correct way to make Irish Coffee. Heehe, I know what UR thinking. The key element is to start with a hot water heated glass, before you pour in the coffee and not to heat the cream directly. This is Five Stars all the way and a must, if UR in County Cork.
