Talk about well-kept secrets.... Along with Clonmines in Wexford, Rindoon is one of the best collections of medieval relics that nobody knows about. The walk is amazing, the scenery of Lough Ree beyond compare and loads of ruins in a small area. The presence of the walls means that people often assume that there was a town here. There is little evidence for a town existing here ever. What you have is an incredibly well-fortified farm.

We did this walk our second day in Ireland. What was going to be a fun couple of hours, turned into a full day adventure. We stopped every few minutes for pictures and to enjoy the beautiful landscape. We all feel that we experienced Ireland in the best way possible. The Castle ruins were fascinating. We met so many friendly cows and sheep along the way also. We felt as though we stepped back in time to medieval Ireland.

Magical place to explore and steeped in history. Well signposted with excellent informative details. Follow the direction signs and you will enjoy a rewarding walk. A free car-park is available 50 metres from the entrance gate. Do not obstruct or park cars at entrance gate - this is a working farm.

Fascinating place, a great walk although would be challenging for small children and not suitable for pushchairs.

Terrific walk along Lough Ree including an amazing historic site of medieval village. Just a few Km in length and easy. Very pretty lakefront and forest views. Signposts are easy to follow and signage informative. Includes walks across active farms with livestock present, FYI.
