I have been an inpatient in St Pats for a month. I left after a week on dean swift in february, due to the incompitence of senior staff. within this admission have not seen a social worker, therapist, counselor, physio therapist or had any meaningfull interaction with a doctor. I have witnesed drug dealing, intimidation, masogony go unchecked or conveniently ignored by staff. i have been transfered through four beds on three wards and have no daily program or routene.this place has made my life allot worse. the website is fradulent, do not believe a word of it. And if you care for your own recovery or the recovery of a loved one; Do not sign in to this hospital. Dean swift is turning in his grave.

I would give minus 5 stars if I could. Went in here as a teenager with mental health and addiction issues. I was treated with judgement and no compassion or empathy by nurses and doctor Conor farren absolutely worst doctor ever.I would go as far as saying dangerous as I left feeling even more isolated and tried to take my life again. This place did me more harm than good. I believe that If I had received decent care here and been treated with deceny and empathy my life might have went a completely different way and I might not have went through 7 more years of hell. I will say to be fair that the actual counsellors were very nice and genuine but doctors and nurses were horrible and totally unprofessional. Please heed this caution and avoid as I would not like any other vulnerable person to be treated the way I was still years later upsets me. I have received a millions times better care from some public hospitals.

Excellent. I was there a number of years ago and even thinking back about the time I was there in hospital and my experience there helps to heal the wounds I experienced around depression and anxiety. Highly recommended.

LET THE BUYER BEWARE. The care my father received was abysmal. My Father was admitted to the high dependency Dean Swift ward. While in his stay here he was assaulted on THREE different occasions by another Patient. He was first Punched, then a glass of water was fired at him unprovoked, and on the third occasion he was thrown on the floor which resulted in him fracturing his hip. He was admitted to St James hospital where he was 36 hours on a trolley before he was admitted, he was accompanied by what appeared to be porter who had limited English. Despite St James doing the best they could and where the care and communication was excellent, they could not manage to get my father mobile again where he DIED of Pneumonia. The autopsy revealed that my father had suffered an allergic reaction to the medication he received in St Pats which caused all his muscles to lock thus St James could not get his mobile again. In the Dean Swift Ward the staff spent most of there time filing out paperwork as opposed to being in the ward. The exercise facilities are smaller than a tennis court. The consultant Dr O Ceallaigh went A-wall for two weeks before the last assault, the only response I could get from he secretary was that he was in court and unavailable. The consultant didn't seem aware of what was going on in the ward, as he rang me up on a Sunday after the assault and told me " He did not believe anyone else was involved to which he later retracted the following day. They performed to independent enquiries, neither of which examined his medication and all they did say my father was a difficult case. Complete damage control, it took a staggering 18 months for the second enquiry to complete I contacted the metal health commission and they said " they do not comment on individual cases " thus It appears the private mental health care in unregulated or self regulated!!! Poor communication throughout, PS. It seems unusual that all the good reviews of this place seem rather scant on information and details!
