  Got my girlfriend pregnant in Screen 2 and our baby was born on her 14th birthday. That made me such a happy man since I had just lost my job that I’d been working at the last 20 years. Always remember this place for happy times.

  The Gate was once a centre piece of Cork City life. Particularly after the closure of The Capital cinema. Today, The Gate feels very dated and failing to keep up with the times with regards to fresh styling and theatre seating. A cash injection would really bring this place to life but unfortunately we are left with a cinema we know is struggling, as astonishing as that is as it has no competition in the city centre.
