::Ordinary - Arklow Bay Hotel was always considered an upper class hotel but not anymore. They had pride before and paid attention to small details. The food is plain and ordinary. Set menu with 4 different items in each category. You might as well eat at home or even from one of the local pubs or take-aways. The room was okay and tidy but tiles and plaster coming off or broken. TV not working. The bedding was too small for the double bed. The pamphlets/flyers were torn and old. Not enough sugar, milk, coffee and tea to even have one decent cup each. We asked the bar for more condiments when we were heading up after an evening in the hotel lounge. The waitress firstly ignored me for a good 15 minutes and then only gave me her attention when I forced the issue. She was just standing behind the bar. She told me to get it from Reception who in turn told me to get it from the bar. We were on the 3rd floor. No decent signage to the room once out of the lift. We thought we were in a storage floor with all the tables and chairs stacked against the walls. We got lost finding the lift again to go downstairs. We were not the only ones. Nothing for children to do. Smoking area is limited to the front door with no seating. Decorations for St Patrick's Day was embarrassing. The painted bunting representing Ireland's flag was Orange, Green and White - in that order. When I pointed it our to reception they thought I was been picky. You right I am picky about my flag. We spend many one nights at the hotel. We like to get away from home every now and then. The hotel is convenient for us. I am disappointed that the standards have gone down so much.

::Stayed for 2 nights. Nearly everything about the hotel was lovely except the temperature of the room. The room was freezing cold as the radiators weren't working. We had our 8 month old son with us. When I went to reception they organised a plug in heater for the room. Would have prefered the option to move rooms though.
