  Excellent place. The owners are kind people and the place is close enough to the center of the city. Enjoyed a lot and the breakfast was also good (had the Irish one, that suffice as single meal for the entire day ..)

  Very central to the town and to Nowlan Park. Oonagh and family are very nice.

  Summary: Very comfortable older style B&B, just make sure you've got enough cash to pay when checking out! The room my partner and I stayed in at Carraig Rua was of an older style yet very comfortable, spacious and spotless. The entire building had a lovely welcoming feel to it. The complementary breakfast was outstanding (we'd highly recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, and the full Irish was fantastic also) and the parking outside the front door was extremely convenient, especially when lugging a couple of heavy suitcases around! The accommodation itself is about a 20 minute stroll into the centre of Kilkenny which was long enough to warm up but not long enough to be annoying. The main problem we had was we weren't aware it was a cash only payment so on the morning we checked out we had to walk into the city to find an ATM which was pretty inconvenient. We checked the fine print and didn't find any mention of it and weren't told beforehand. Kilkenny itself was one of our favorite cities in Ireland so if you're thinking of visiting make sure you do so!!!
