Usually one of my favourite places to go for a drink. However today the staff were so rude, ignoring one side of the bar completely and when asking about a cocktail silenced us with a finger and walked away. When they came back and told us to pick something from the cocktail menu then walked away again, we promptly left.

I am basing this review on my last experience there as I can see they have a lot of terrible reviews. I'm even tempted to put 4 stars but that's not fair on my actual experience; if they mess up again, I'll be surely back to let the world know with the appropriate stars awarded. I must say, me and my lady were very impressed especially after the type of service we received. It was a Groupon offer we were availing of I must say, but one of the expensive ones about €50 for a 2 or 3 course meal plus a choice of a bottle of wine or 2 cocktails (it's expensive to us, they are lucky we bought it). These guys (staff) were extra professional, I think the owner or bar manager came to check up on us to ensure we were ok (he wasn't uniformed hence why I called him owner). The meal was lovely and gracious. The steak was scrumptious. So good my lady had to shorten my ration. I'm genuinely trying to find a bad fault so I could be as honest as possible. Well, we didn't finish the wine because their house wine tasted like liquid urine. We weren't complaining as the bottle looked better, I mean I looked like I was pulling out all the cash in the already extensive establishment to woo my beautiful lady. Other than that, we went home pleased, stuffed and thinking the overall experience was good value for money. I have also been there other times for cocktails, light lunch, Guinness etc. I don't know, I'm trying to understand why we felt our experience was good here contrary to popular remarks. Probably because we were sitting at one of the booths. We were also dressed highly professional, you would think we were affluent or so. Look I liked it and I am a very very tough critic to please, I send food back if it is not as expected.

Booked a Christmas party for work. On arrival i asked was everything ok for 8pm and I was told it was. Staff started to arrive from all over Dublin at around 8pm. When I found someone to bring us to our table I was told there was no table. I said this wasn’t good enough and then they found me a small high table with no chairs in a packed area surrounded by lads who were just moved off it, I said I had a booth booked and a bar tab and this wasn’t good enough. Emailed the person who took the booking back and forth for a while about how embarrassing the situation was and was told to hang on they’d try get me chairs, try get a booth, try get a table...anyway nothing. Staff obviously didn’t want to stand around in the cold, some waited inside, some waited at another pub and 2 others went home. I looked like a cheap idiot after promising them for all their hard work that they’d have free food and drink for the night, instead I went from pub to pub buying drinks, night was a disaster, staff were disappointed, night never got going obviously and all were on there way home by 11:30. They were all looking forward to it so much as some rarely get out, others arranged baby sitters etc. I would never book a Christmas party or table here as the risk of humiliation and a shrug of the shoulders from them is high. Avoid any organised booking here. Just an overall pathetic experience and would strongly recommend not booking your office party here as they can’t be trusted to do the most basic of things like reserve your table. Christmas night for hard working staff who traveled in from all over Dublin was completely ruined. Very embarrassing would avoid this place for parties.

Decent place, good for a group booking or to watch sports. New York style basement bar. I resist going here on a night out as it's hot and humid inside which plays havoc with my hair and makeup. Great cocktails.
