::BEST SCONES IN IRELAND That is the finding of myself and my family's research during the summer of 2017 in the tea shops and restaurants of a dozen big cities and small towns in Ireland. It wasn't exhaustive, our research, but enthusiastic, since we are devotees of Irish soda bread and other bakery items of a certain sort are central to Irish eating. The scones at Malloy's were perfection to my taste, not too sweet and close to family cooking. The tea is heartly and the rest of the menu are very good, too. We ate regularly at Malloy's for nearly a week, while renting a farmhouse nearby, and we liked the baked goods so much we brought some home to America and fed bits of Malloy's goods to our neighbor, Bella, who is pictured below. Bella is also partial to apples.
