::Visited the MSL premises in Little Island today, excited to get my five year old e-class back after two weeks in the workshop (the car blew its suspension bags on the motorway, a well known failure on this model. Luckily I was only traveling at 35mph and was able to keep control of the car. At a higher speed it could have been much worse). I got a call yesterday advising that the car was ready for collection. As soon as i drove on to the forecourt my heart sank, my car was parked up with the rear suspension almost on the ground. I had to bring this to the attention of the service staff who hadn't apparently noticed. The service manager appeared, who firstly didn't want to accept that the car was completely lowered in the rear and then after he conceded, immediately launched into defensive mode which was very disappointing. I found the attitude to be sub-standard for a Mercedes dealership. No apologies, No empathy, No awareness of the time wasting aspect ( I was on my way to Dublin for a meeting) and no offer to provide a replacement car. As I sat waiting for a hire car (that I ordered myself) I witnessed MSLs smooth sales operation in action, much smoother than its service operation !!. This Mercedes is my fifth one. I will never buy another and I wont be encouraging anyone else to buy one either. For anyone deciding to buy a Mercedes, i implore you not to buy one with an air suspension. It will break your heart, waste your time and money and expose you to danger. This system is seriously flawed and Mercedes seems uncertain about it and / or unwilling to remedy it. A cursory search online will uncover zillions of similar stories about air suspension problems on Mercedes vehicles. In my most recent experience Mercedes is no longer a premium product or service. A Hyundai is more reliable. A Ford service department will look after you better. This was my ONLY experience of MSL Cork but not a great one !!
