::I contacted Portobello Dental Clinic after my 16 year old daughter, Julie, fell and broke her two front teeth. They were so professional and helpful right from the start. I was able to get an appointment within a week with Dr Helen Walsh. She reassured Julie that she would have her back looking like her old self. Julie actually looked forward to seeing Helen and Deirdre as they were so very sympathetic towards her needs, making sure she had her headphones on etc. The end result could not have been better. Julie cannot stop smiling and is over the moon with her new teeth and in the world of selfies that we live in, that is very important for a 16 year girl. I could not recommend Portobello Dental Clinic enough as they will not let you leave unless you are 100% Happy, which we were. When your daughter compares herself to celebrities and says "My teeth are nicer than theirs" then you know you went to the right place.

::Hugely disappointed. Having had a satisfactory appointment with the clinic in 2016 I just tried to book for a hygienist appointment. I was told that because I hadn't been to them for 2 years I would need a letter from the dentist I had been to within the last 6 months saying I am fit for treatment. I said that I felt uncomfortable asking for a letter and it would delay the process, but I said I did have my receipt for that visit. The receptionist told me that this was not acceptable and the letter was needed for insurance reasons. I find this hard to believe; I imagine it is rather down to protocol on the part of the clinic. But either way, the receptionist made no attempt to find a way round it or refer the problem to a dentist, and seemed quite happy to see the business lost for her clinic. I can think of several solutions which would include the option of getting the dentist to perform the scale and polish (like most dentists normally do anyway) so they could check at the same time. A word of warning too. When I made my first appointment I wasn't told that the check up would not include a scale and polish. Exam with scale and polish is generally standard practice. So it was then a shock to learn that a scale and polish would be an additional 80 euros and i would have to come back a different day! I wasn't bold enough to point this out at the time but I felt extremely irritated. This makes the cost of a check up and clean 140 euros which is more than double the average in Dublin of around 60 euros. I believe the level of treatment here is good and the dentist I previously saw was extremely professional and pleasant, but for these prices you would expect to have your expectations properly managed and also to see some creative thinking around a problem.

::I need to get a tooth extracted and I just went for a consultation today. I am a first timer and I'm a nervous patient and Dr Daisy was excellent. She put me at ease about the whole thing and explained the Happy Air to me and I would recommend her to my friends. Thank you Portabello dental clinic :)
