  First let me say these ruins are on private land and there is a sign stating this. But if like me your a die hard man for the unusually photo then I climbed over the gate with a great cover story in mind in case I was stopped. There is a walk up and over a hill through a walkway covered by trees on both sides. But just over the hill you get your first glimpse of the ruins. Can I just state the very reason I new about these ruins was when I was cycling the Tour of Kildare both last year and this year and on both occasions the grain in the surroundings fields were golden and they looked picture perfect from a distance so there and then I decided that I would retrace my steps and get proper photos when the opportunity arose. Up close they are more interesting and there are two beside each other. The castle is smaller than the other structure but together they look great from any vantage point. If your interested in there history then check out Wikipedia for an in-dept history but for those who are interested in the visually effect on the landscape then they are well worth a visit. I was able to get photos from every angle, the day was sunny and the fields had been harvested but the ruins were still surrounded by golden grain and I thought I was in heaven. I had a great time taking the photos and no one bothered or stopped me. But if your the owned of the lands then you have my thanks for allowing me to take picture undisturbed. I made a point not to damage or disturb anything.This is a must stop for any budding photographer. Get permission first. Enjoy
