  Wonderful old time hotel in the centre of Monaghan. Big spacious room with tall, regency windows looking out onto the main square. Bed was extremely comfortable and made for a great night's sleep. Large bathroom, clean and tidy but could have done with a separate shower. The lunch in the bar was recommended and didn't disappoint. I had the bowl of soup (generous size) and a half sandwich which came with a side salad and a cup of tea for under €9. Could probably benefit from a key card system for the bedrooms rather than the bulky key and fob but that's a minor issue. Highly recommended.

  Fantastic looking hotel, great location. 2 rooms were booked for us to attend my father's funeral in Ardee, our room faced the front of the hotel, which despite being luxurious suffered from a lack of numerous tv channels and excessive noise all night from drunken youths outside the hotel till 5am on a Sunday morning. My Wife's debit card was also wrongly charged for my brother's room without her authority. American Express is also not a payment option at this highly rated hotel.

  Went here for breakfast with a few friends. The staff where very accommodating but service was quite slow. Our food was just average & served on huge plates! The Hotel itself was lovely & warm & had a cosy atmosphere. It's also very child friendly.

  Food was fantastic, service was okay. We went for a staff lunch for Christmas. One of the girls ordered soup. It was very slow to come out. We were all eating our food and was nearly finished when she got her soup. She ordered desert as well but never received it. They obviously forgot about it. But I will give it four stars because I have been here a few times and they have always been very good for service.
